Fatica was not a chef — but he lived around the table.
A chemical engineer by training, born in Lisbon, Brazilian at heart, he arrived in Rio in the 1960s during the dictatorship.
He found in music, books, gatherings and long dinners a way to resist with serenity and determination — with affection, passion and good wine.
He saw the Brazil of Pelé, Chico, Glauber Rocha and Helena Solberg. He also saw the Brazil of inequalities and utopias. He saw with attentive eyes and an open heart.
He put down roots, started a family and created recipes.
